Libyan champions Al Nasr are facing a mountain to climb when they visit Morocco’s Raja Casablanca at the second leg of Total CAF Champions League first round, scheduled at Mohamed V complex in Casablanca on Saturday.
Led by French coach Patrice Carteron, Raja have the advantage having won the first leg a fortnight ago 3-1 in Egyptian capital Cairo.
Coach Mohamed Alkikly side are looking forward to produce a miraculous performance that allows them to score at least three unanswered goals to reach the group stage. In case they are aggregate losers, Al Nasr will shift their direction towards the second tier CAF Confederation Cup.
Libyan league champions face a tough mission as they are missing five key players through injury, namely Khaled Magdy, Ossama Bedoui, Abdullah Belaam, Saddam Ouarfali and Firas Shlek.
“This is a special game”, Al Nasr midfielder Ahmed Hassi told CAFOnline.com. “We lost the first leg despite having a very good performance but lack of experience besides not having a competitive league affected us negatively”.
“We have many absentees and this might affect us because they are all key players. But we will believe in our chances and do our best to achieve the result that we need, for our absent teammates and for our supporters who trust us. What we need is God’s help”, he concluded.
