In spite of his impressive form in the French Ligue 1 for FC Metz, coach C.K Akonnor has conspicuously turned a blind eye on experienced defender – John Boye.

Coach C.K Akonnor has not stated on record that the 33-year-old Ghanaian defender is surplus to requirement, but his actions towards the former Hearts of Lions player proves that he’s not part of his future plans.

For instance, when a journalist last questioned the coach on his reason[s] for not inviting the FC Metz captain, C.K Akonnor callously quizzed Isaac Asempah [the journalist who asked the question] if he is related in anyway to John Boye.

The Black Stars head coach [C.K Akonnor] announced a 23-man squad yesterday ahead of Ghana’s friendly game against Mali in Antalya, Turkey on October 09 and John Boye’s name was spurn disdainfully.

John Boye made his debut for the Black Stars on June 22, 2008, against Gabon and would go on to make 68 appearances for Ghana.

Coach C.K Akonnor has, however, handed debut call ups to Alexander Djiku who plays for Strasbourg, Yakubu Mohammed (Azam FC), Benson Anang of MSK Zilina in Slovakia, Emmanuel Lomotey of Amiens, and youngster Kamal Deen who plays for Danish side – Nordsjaelland.

Pyramid FC’s goal poacher – John Antwi has also been handed a call up by C.K Akonnor.
