Sierra Leone and Henan Songshan Longmen FC forward Mohamed Buya Turay has announced a bid of 6,000 USD [equal 60,000,000 Leones] as continued support to Freetown based charitable health organization “The Sick Piken Project” to help save lives of disadvantaged sick children in his country.

Buya assured to donate the sum of 1,000 USD [equivalent 10,000,000 Leones] monthly for six months effective July ending for Surgical operations of Children in response to a financial request put out by the Sick Piken Project: [a health charitable organization helping to save lives of deprived sick children in Sierra Leone whose families cannot afford the medical bills to be taken overseas for major and complex surgeries].

Since 2019, the 26-year old goal machine has pumped nearly one billion dollars towards humanitarian assistance for vulnerable individuals and life saving organizations back home. He donated the sum of 6,000,000 USD for an eye operation undergone by Mohamed Kalokoh in Ghana through the Sick Piken Project in February and also offered 2,000 USD cash to a university student with an arm injury earlier last month.

“Mohamed Buya Turay! Waw this is truly amazing, we are truly blessed to have a kind soul like you sir. Our project has too many children coming to us daily for help. We are overwhelmed so any support will make a huge difference for us. Thank you so dearly and may goodness and mercies always be with you in your endeavors,” said a statement from the Sick Piken Project on Facebook.

Turay who was born in Freetown is now playing for China based Henan Songshan Longmen FC in the Chinese Super League having won the Swedish League title in 2019 with Djurgarden FC to bag his maiden Silverware in his career. He also finished as the league’s top goal scorer that season after netting 15 goals to become the first Sierra Leonean International to win the Golden Boot in a European League.
