Floyd Mayweather still might deliver on his promise to knock out Conor McGregor Saturday night, but he broke another promise — that he’d be at his strip club every day leading up to the big fight.
Mayweather was a no-show Saturday, with the boxer failing to arrive before Girl Collection closed at 5:07 a.m.
At 4:52, there were 17 people waiting to get inside the club and, presumably, for a glimpse of Mayweather.
“This is too crazy for him,” said James “P-Reala” McNair, one of Mayweather’s closest friends and business associates. “I’ve never seen it like this.”
In the wee hours of the morning, some of the women waiting to get into the club were as scantily clad as the dancers inside the club. And the valet parking lot looked more like a luxury car lot.
“Rolls Royces are growing like trees around here,” said Jethro Monks, a longtime member of Mayweather’s security team. “Can I get one?”
Mayweather missed more than a chaotic seen outside his club. He also missed several angry customers who were upset upon discovering that — due to the big crowd at a club with capacity for about 300 people — the cover charge had been jacked up to $400 a person.
When one woman pointed out the cover charge was listed on the club’s website as $50 a person, a security guard responded, “Not for fight week. The space here is prime space.”
