British boxer and former two-weight division champion – Billy Joe Saunders has revealed that he suffered a broken eye socket and cheek bone in three different places in his defeat at the hands of Santos Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez Barragán at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Sunday.

The 31-year-old was handed severe beating and finally got knocked out by Canelo Alvarez in the eighth round in their scheduled 12-round unified super middleweight title fight in front of a record 73, 126 spectators.

Billy Joe Saunders was carried to the hospital soon after the bout fueling lots of speculations in the media space, but the British boxer revealed the extent of damage to his eyes via his Facebook page on Monday.

“Broken eye socket and broken cheek bone in three places. Operation yesterday all went well.

“You win some, you lose some. Didn’t feel out of my league but got caught with a good shot and couldn’t see.
