It was all smiles at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, Accra on Sunday as Liberty Professionals Football Club walloped visiting Berekum Chelsea by 4-2 in matchday 28 of the 2017 Ghana Premier League [GPL].
In form Bernard Arthur, otherwise known as Manucho shot the scientific soccer lads – Liberty Professionals ahead just four minutes into the game as he deceives goalkeeper Gideon Ahenkorah with a teasing ball.
Manucho came close to scoring again in the 11th minute as he screwed one towards goal, but goalkeeper Ahenkorah dived wide to serve the situation for the visitors.
Berekum Chelsea warmed themselves into the game and nearly pulled parity in the 28th minute, but Stephen Sarfo’s goal bound shot was ruled not to have crossed the goal line.
Maxwell Ampadu whittled the back of the net on the half hour mark to stretch Liberty’s lead to 2-0 after a great counter break.
Frederick Ansah came from the bench to sign off the day for Liberty Professionals as he added his name on the score sheet in the 88th minute to give their supporters a sigh of relief with two matches to end the season.
Liberty Professionals [38 points] occupies the eleventh position on the league table whiles Berekum Chelsea is fifth on the log with 39 points.
