Barcelona have agreed a £37.3million deal for Bordeaux winger Malcom, the La Liga side have confirmed.
Malcom, a target for Arsenal and Tottenham in the January transfer window only for Les Girondins to refuse to sell him mid-season, had seemed to be bound for Roma, who announced on Monday that they had agreed a deal with Bordeaux for his transfer.
However that agreement prompted Barcelona to enter the race, securing the 21-year-old on a five-year contract. He will be undergo his medical on Wednesday, after which he will join Ernesto Valverde’s side on their tour of America.
The winger scored 12 goals and provided seven assists for Bordeaux in Ligue 1 last season, helping the French club avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, AS Roma are considering legal action after a proposed deal for Bordeaux winger Malcom collapsed.
“Within the club, we are looking at our options and seeing if we have a legal case. It is true that nothing was signed, but there are many messages with the agents and their president that are at least worth being assessed,” says Monchi.
