Mamelodi Sundowns manager – Rulani Mokwena has said that a fit Percy Tau will come in handy for South Africa in their quest to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion attacker who has been plagued with injury since signing for Al Ahly finally made his debut for the Red Devils on Wednesday, hitting the back of the the net twice in their 4-0 hammering of Ismaily in the Egyptian Premier League.

Tau’s return to form has given hope to lot of South African supporters as the Bafana Bafana is due to play against Zimbabwe in Johannesburg next weekend before travelling to face Ghana in Cape Coast three days later.

“We’ve watched the games against Ethiopia, and I think one game against Ghana,” Mokwena said.

“Bafana Bafana needs a fit and strong Percy Tau. It’s good to see that he has found his scoring boots.

“Yes, he plays for Al Ahly which is a rival so I don’t want to speak much about that.

“Percy Tau knows my feelings, he knows I support him 150% and I always wish him well and I will always do so.

“It’s not only Percy who knows, Percy’s mother knows, Percy’s kid knows and that’s as far as I am prepared to go answering that question,” Mokwena added.
