Angola’s National Women’s Handball team’s Azenaide Carlos has been very impactful in the last 3 Olympic games and can not be ruled out for the Tokyo Olympics.
Azenaide Danilo Jose Carlos, also known as Zizica, is a 30-year-old Angolan handball player who currently plays for the Angolan National team and RK Podravka Koprivnica (Croatia).
Azenaide participated in 2008, 2012, 2016 Olympics and the 2011 World Women’s Handball Championship.
She began her career at Primeiro de Agosto Youth Team (Angola) in 2001 and joined the senior team in 2009.
After winning the Angolan Women’s League in 2013 with Primeiro de Agosto she moved to rival side Petro Atletico in 2014.
She won her first national silverware with The Pearls of Angola at the age of 21 in Mozambique where Angola were champions in the 2011 African Games (Women’s handball competition).
Even as a right back, Azenaide Carlos has averaged close to 3 goals in every appearance recording 264 goals in 91 appearances.
Currently working under coach Morten Soubak (Denmark) who won the World Champions in 2013 with Brazil, the Angolan Women National Team is ready to win some international silverware.
Angola’s best position in the Olympics is 8th which was four years ago in Brazil.
Azenaide Carlos and her Angolan teammates look forward to improving upon their position in the Tokyo Olympics as they have already booked a spot in the competition next year.
