Accomplished Ghanaian referee and judge – Ataa Eddie Pappoe has come to the defence of Tony Weeks for stopping the Isaac Dogboe vs. Caesar Juarez WBO featherweight [interim] title fight in round 5.
According to Ataa Eddie Pappoe [President of African Boxing Union Ring Officials], the referee in the middle acted very professionally on the night.
“There was nothing wrong with the stoppage. Tony acted swiftly and promptly.”
Referee Tony Weeks came under the microscope soon after the fight, but Ataa Eddie Pappoe believes the American referee followed the rules of the game.
Ataa Eddie added that the recent seminar organized for boxing trainers was in the right direction, and commended the leadership of the Ghana Boxing Authority [GBA] for such positive initiative.
He congratulated former presidents, Samir Captan and Moses Foe Amoaning for their contributions to boxing.
He urged all stakeholders to put their shoulders to the wheel to push Ghana Boxing to its rightful position as the leading discipline and most potential for laurels for the nation.
