Just as supporters of the Porcupine Warriors and Journalists alike seem to have conferred the ‘Darling Boy’ tag of Asante Kotoko on Fabio Gama, coach Mariano Barreto has stoke a fresh debate having rated Augustine Okrah ahead of the Brazilian attacking midfielder.

The diminutive Brazilian attacking middie who has been on another level in the second round of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League, scoring and assisting in three straight games for Asante Kotoko was absent in the Porcupine Warriors match against Great Olympics yesterday at the Accra Sports Stadium due to accumulated cards.

But according to Mariano Barreto, Augustine Okrah also deserves a special mentioning in his team because the silky Ghanaian midfielder is one of the best talent in the country:

“Everybody is talking about Fabio Gama, but one of the best players in the Ghana Premier League is Augustine Okrah and he is a Ghanaian. Don’t forget that,” the Portuguese manager told Journalists at his post match press conference.

When quizzed further if he missed the absence of Fabio Gama the coach did not mince words, saying he didn’t miss him.

“I didn’t miss him my friend because there is one thing you can always believe. That is, Kotoko will always start a game with eleven players.”

The highly anticipated game ended in a goalless draw, leaving Asante Kotoko atop the table with 35 points and Great Olympics second on 34 points.
