Legon Cities FC striker – Asamoah Gyan has claimed that he should have been awarded a penalty in their last premier league game against Asante Kotoko.
The Royals lost 0-1 to the Porcupine Warriors in a game Gyan applauded Kotoko for executing their plan very well, but felt referee Emmanuel Tampuri’s performance was a little bit questionable having denied him a clear penalty.
“Referees were making too many mistakes. I don’t blame them, they are humans, but you cannot make too many mistakes in such a very tough game.
“I think I had a clear penalty.
“The referee was about 100 metres away which I think is not right for a referee to be that far.
“Because with my experience I know that referees need to follow every situation of the ball. That is, about 10 metres away, but the referee was far away.
Asamoah Gyan who is yet to score a goal since his mega move to Legon Cities got booed at a point in time in the game by a section of the Kotoko supporters, but when asked about his reaction to that particular gesture, the former Black Stars captain said he is not worried and that they are just hypocrites.
“There’s only one Asamoah Gyan. They can boo.
“They know they are hypocrites and they know there is only one Asamoah Gyan.
“They can say I am arrogant, I’ll be arrogant because they know the hard truth.
“I am just here to help my team. They should even be thankful that I am in the league,” Gyan added.
