The head huncho of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation [GAF], Mr. Charles Osei Asibe [COA] and the National Armwrestling Team – Golden Arms have deservedly earned nominations in the upcoming 43rd SWAG Awards Night.

Charles Osei Asibey, a member [Deputy General Secretary] of the Africa Armwrestling Federation board and the Communications Director for the Ghana Olympic Committee [GOC] will slug it out with five others for the Federation President of the Year.

He will compete against the likes of; Herbert Mensah [Ghana Rugby Football Union], Mawuko Afadzinu [Ghana Table Tennis Association], Paul Atchoe [Ghana Volleyball Association], Frederick Otu-Lartey [Ghana Taekwondo Federation] and Evans Yeboah [Badminton Association of Ghana].

The Golden Arms, the current National Team with the highest haul of medals [22] from a single international competition will also battle it out with the Local Black Stars Team – winners of the 2017 WAFU tournament and the National Female hockey Team [Black Sticks] for winning silver at the 2017 Hockey Africa Cup of Nations and also making it to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Golden Arms’ Isaac Nii Amugi and HarunaTahiru have also been nominated in two other categories.

Isaac Nii Amugi is competing for the Discovery of the Year having won two [2] gold and 2 bronze medals in the 2017 Africa Armwrestling Championship. He needs to beat competition from David Akwei [Weightlifting] and Suzzy Dede Teye [football] for the overall title.

Meanwhile, HarunaTahiru who won two [2] gold medals at the same championship completes GAF nominations for the 43rd SWAG Awards in the Para-Athlete of the Year category.

The SWAG Awards is a yearly activation where deserving sportsmen and women who have distinguished themselves excellently in their area of specialty [discipline] are recognized.

The 43rd SWAG Awards Night will come off in April, 2018 at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra, Ghana.
