Swansea City coach – Steve Cooper has described Andre Ayew’s goal in the Sky Bet Championship playoff first leg win over Barnsley at Oakwell yesterday as the supreme moment of the game.
The Black Stars captain [Ayew] classy finish in the 39th minute gave the Swans a slender advantage ahead of the second leg on Saturday at the Liberty Stadium in Wales.
The Hykes [Barnsley] responded strongly in the second stanza a great goalkeeping by Freddie Woodman kept the lead for Swansea City having saved Carlton Morris and Callum Brittain’s goal bound efforts.
Speaking in a post match interview, Cooper admitted that Swansea City battled to grind the result whiles terming Ayew’s goal as the game changer.
“We got a real moment of excellence with Andre’s goal and we managed to continue to be strong defensively.
“It was just a good effort from the boys, it was not a typical Swansea game but you have to respect that and you have to deal with it.
“Andre has then made the difference and we know he can do that, we’ve seen it plenty of times.”
