Black Stars captain – Andre Ayew made the difference for Swansea City over Barnsley in the first semi-final leg of the Sky Bet Championship play off on Monday as his solitary goal won the day for the Swans.

After few incursions into the final third of Barsley, the Ghanaian attacker broke the deadlock in the 39th minute with a left footed shot from the right side of the box straight into the bottom left corner having been put through by Kyle Naughton.

Sam Cooper’s side had to deal with heavy pressure from Barnsley in the second stanza, but a great defensive network of Marc Guehi, Matt Grimes, Freddie Woodman, and Kyle Naughton ensured another clean sheet for the Swans.

The Tykes [Barnsley] will travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City in the second leg.

The goal marks Andre Ayew’s 17th of the season.
