Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller’s aim of returning to the ring next month could be all, but over as new reports suggest that the American heavyweight boxer has failed another drug test.
This means that Miller [24-0-1, 23 KO’s] who was due to face Jerry Forrest [26-3, 20 KOs] on July 9 would have to wait for another shot in months to come.
The unbeaten 31 year old boxer from Brooklyn, New York was placed under ban by the Nevada State Athletic Commission [NSAC] having failed multiple drug tests ahead of his proposed fight against Anthony Joshua in 2009.
His co promoter – Dmitriy Salita who is troubled by the latest development says they are awaiting a final ruling from the NSAC.
“I am disappointed. I was looking forward to July 9th and Jarrell’s return to the ring. This news is shocking to me as well.
“Hopefully soon we will find out more facts. As Bob Arum said, we’re all going to be guided by the decision of the Nevada Athletic Commission.”
According to Top Rank’s vice president of boxing operations – Carl Moretti, Miller will be replaced by a new opponent on the July 9 showdown:
“We are aware of the situation,” Moretti confirmed to BoxingScene.
“He will be placed on temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday morning.
“We are currently working on a replacement opponent for the main event on July 9th.”
As the AJ fight was scrapped, Miller has not fought since November 2018.
