Ghana’s swimming ‘Usain Bolt’ – Abeiku Jackson has been appointed captain for Team Ghana ahead of the Africa Youth Games [AYG] which starts on Wednesday, July 18 at the National Stadium Complex in Algiers, Algeria.
According to a release from the Ghana Olympic Committee, Team Ghana [made up of twenty two athletes] will compete in only four [4] disciplines – Athletics, Beach volleyball, Hockey, and Swimming.
Below are the breakdown of athletes and their various disciplines;
Athletics: Stephen Yaro, Solomon Diafo, Regina Gyamfi, Dominic McCarthy, and Dorcas Opoku.
Beach Volley: Kelvin Katey, Eric Tsatsu, Berlinda Awuku, Mavis Akuvi Berbelie, Mumuni Moro.
Hockey: Rachael Quayson, Gifty Addae, Asana Gbati, Esther Nuatro, Charity Akoto, Eleanor Otto, Rafiatu Okine, Rebecca Donkor, and Hagiet Copson.
Swimming: Abeiku Jackson, Yaw Poku-Dwomoh, Prince Abdullah Sowah, and Kaya Forson.
Meanwhile, captain for Team Ghana [Abeiku Jackson] has urged his colleagues to obey all camping rules whiles using the right avenues to resolve any grievance[s] that may arise in their course of stay.
