Ghana’s Christian Atsu Twasam was on target on Saturday, December 23 as the Magpies [Newcastle United] recorded their first win since beating Crystal Palace in October.

The Christmas London Stadium showdown had two Ghanaian Internationals scoring on the day. Andre Ayew for West Ham United having missed from the spot early on and Christian Atsu also scoring for the Magpies.

Marko Arnautovic gave the Hammers [West Ham United] the lead just six minutes into the game as he walked through the Newcastle defence with ease to score his third goal in four games.

The visitors pulled level in the 10th minute through Henri Saivet’s text book free kick from 25 yards out.

Christian Atsu and Mohammed Diame combined excellently in the 53rd minute to give Newcastle the lead for the first time in the game, but have their goalkeeper Elliot to thank for all the same as he saved Andre Ayew’s penalty kick moment later.

Christian Atsu extended the lead for the Magpies in the 61st minute after a quick fire break with Joselu.

Andre Ayew, however, redeemed his image in the 69th minute as he connected Andy Carrol’s header into the net to end the game 2-3 in favour of the visitors – Newcastle United.

Elsewhere, Jordan Ayew’s blistering 79th minute strike was enough to salvage a much needed point for relegation faced Swansea City having gone behind Crystal Palace in the 59th minute through Luka Milivojevic’s penalty.
