The 42nd edition of the most cherished sports award ceremony in Africa [MTN-SWAG Awards Night] will come off tomorrow at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra, Ghana.

The SWAG Award, undoubtedly the longest [42yrs] serving award ceremony in Ghana is a platform where deserving sportsmen and women who have distinguished themselves excellently in their area of specialty [discipline] are awarded.

Some of the renowned names that have won the prestigious SWAG Personality of the Year are; Abedi Ayew Pele, Anthony Yeboah, Margaret Simpson, Ike ‘Bazooka’ Quartey, Ignatius Gaisah, Azuma Nelson, Asamoah ‘Baby Jet’ Gyan, Andre Ayew, amongst others.

In all, over twenty-five [25] awards will be conferred on deserving persons for their unquestionable performance in their area of specialty.

The award categories includes; Sports Personality of the Year, Footballer of the Year, Premier League Player of the Year, Female footballer of the Year, Professional Boxer of the Year, Amateur Boxer of the Year, Weightlifter of the Year, National Team of the Year, Table Tennis Player of the Year, Most Promising Star of the Year, Para-Athlete of the Year, Kickboxer of The Year, Coach of the Year, Dedication and Valour, Referee of the Year, Association Chairman of the Year, Discovery of the Year, amongst others.

In attendance as the special guest of honor for this year’s event will be the first gentleman of the State [Ghana], Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

All invited guests are supposed to be seated by 7:00 pm.
