USA’s Christian Coleman has clocked 6.37 to break the world indoor 60m record at the Clemson Invitational in South Carolina.
That mark, recorded on his season opener and now awaiting ratification, improves the previous world record mark set by his fellow American Maurice Greene in 1998 by 0.02.
Greene also equalled that time in 2001.
Coleman, who claimed world 100m silver behind Justin Gatlin and ahead of Usain Bolt in London last summer, had a previous 60m best of 6.45 from March last year.
The 21-year-old world 4x100m silver medallist has also run 9.82 for 100m and 19.85 for 200m.
Also in Clemson on Friday, Olympic 100m hurdles bronze medallist Kristi Castlin clocked 8.06 to win the 60m hurdles.
