The 2020 edition of the annual Kwahu Easter Marathon has been launched in Accra ahead of the event which is billed to take place on Saturday, April 11 in the green mountainous landscaped town – Kwahu.
Organized by Medivent Consult with support from the Kwahu Traditional Council, this year’s edition will see athletes compete in a 21 kilometre [km] race instead of the previous 42km route.
Speaking to the press at the launch, William Ezah [Project Manager at Medivents Consults] explained the reason why the distance has been tweaked:
“we have decided to make it a half marathon considering the tedious nature of climbing the mountain.
“We want to make the marathon a very competitive, especially as we expect more than a thousand athletes competing this year.”
According to the organizers of the Kwahu Easter Marathon this year’s event will be preceded by a keep-fit jamboree and a pasta night for athletes on Friday, April 10.

The Nkwakaw Filling Station has been marked as the starting point of the marathon and would end at the Forecourt of the KTC in Mpreaso.
