Burkina Faso side, Salitas Football Club and AshantiGold Sporting Club drew blanks in their preliminary round tie of the 2020/21 Total CAF Confederation Cup played at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Sunday.

Despite having three players [Sami Hien, Ibrahim Barry, Youssouf Barro] missing out as a result of being tested positive for COVID-19, Salitas FC still proved that they are a tough side as they matched the soccer miners in all departments on the field of play.

In fact, the visitors were on top of issues in the first stanza of the game, coming close to scoring on two occasions. Free kick expert, Daniel Ouedraogo had his effort punched to safety by AshantiGold goalie – Robert Dabuo.

Meanwhile, Eliass Dianda saw his goal bound header in the 40th minute struck the post.

The soccer miners upped their game in the second half as they pinned the visitors to their own half but could not muster a goal as the game ended goalless.

Salitas FC will host AshantiGold SC in the return leg next week in Ouagadougou.
