Niger and Guinea both picked qualification slots on Sunday, September 10 to the group stage of the 2017 WAFU Cup being hosted in Ghana.

Guinea came from behind to cancel Gilson Correira’s [Guinea Bissau] opener in the 15th minute as Sekou Keita [33rd minute], and Camara Abdoulaye [40th minute] scored to secure a qualification slot to the Syli Nationale otherwise known as the National Elephants.

The second half was just an academic rehearsals as both sides failed to find the back of the net despite selling out some entertaining game to the crowd present at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Stallions of Burkina Faso were completely stunned by Niger in the first match of the day as they beat them 2-1 in a thrilling affair.

The Menas [Niger] took the lead against the run of play in the 34th minute through Boubacar Soumana but, Sansan Dah restored parity for the Stallions in the 59th minute.

However, Idrissa Garba grabbed the match winning goal for Niger in the 62nd minute to eliminate Burkina Faso who was tipped as one of the favourites to winning the competition.

Teams who have qualified to the group stage of the competition so far are; Ghana, Senegal, Niger, and Guinea.
