The Mayor of Accra [Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah] has launched the 2017 edition of the Accra Marathon.
Speaking at the launch on Thursday, September 07 at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra, Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah noted that aside serving as a lifestyle event, the Accra Marathon is a sports tourism which contributes to the growth of the economy.
Mrs. Carthy Morton [Director of the event] said the races will be in categories such as the para cycling race, 5km race for ambassadors, CEO’s and elite as well as the 21Km race for the masses.
She announced that registration has begun online via www.accramarathon,com at the AMA head office in Accra, Frankies [Osu], Papaye [Osu] and the Millennium Marathon office at Nima.
Key personalities who graced the launch were; Hon. Henry Quartey [Deputy Minister of Interior], Hon. Nii Narh Nartey [Member of Parliament for Ablekumah North], Hon. Fuseini Issah and Mrs. Jennifer Brock of the International Relations Dept. of the AMA.
The 2017 Accra Marathon is sponsored by GNPC, Menzgold, Coral Paints, Peugeot, Papaye, MTN, Total Ghana, GOIL, UNB, GRIDCO, BS5, Twillium Ghana, Tang Palace Hotel, DPP, IPMC, AMS, Wigal, Kasapreko, Ghana Shippers Council and Millennium Insurance.
The Accra Marathon expected to attract about 10,000 runners will come off on Saturday, October 07.
