President of the Ghana Blind Union [Eric Kissi] has called on corporate Ghana to come to their aid as they prepare for the national athletics|Goalball championships.
“I would like to appeal to all Ghanaian as well as corporate institutions that we have submitted our fund raising letter in connection with the national athletics/Goalball championship,” Mr. Kissi said in an interview.
The national athletics/Goalball championship will be hosted at the University of Cape Coast from 2-7 August, 2017.
Mr. Kissi further reiterated that the national athletics/Goalball championship is the basis for selecting Ghanaian athletes for the IBSA [International Blind Sports Federation] International Championship slated for Egypt in October, 2017.
The Ghana Blind Union [GBU] is a merger of the Ghana Association of the blind and the Ghana Society for the blind.
Designed specifically for blind athletes, Goalball is a team sport devised by Hanz Lorenzen and Sepp Reindle as a means of assisting the rehabilitation of visually impaired World War II veterans.
