Earlier this week, Tom Loeffler claimed that DAZN can help influence Canelo Alvarez to make a third fight with Gennady Golovkin happen.
Loeffler who promotes Golovkin, who signed a $100 million deal with the streaming platform earlier this year, said that a trilogy fight against GGG was a “big part” of Canelo’s record setting contract.
“There is no clause in my contract that forces me to fight against him for a third time, but if he wins the title of World Boxing Organization – then I will be ready to see him again. I want to be the undisputed middleweight world champion,” Canelo told La Gazzetta in response to Golovkin.
With that being said, Alvarez is focused on his upcoming unification fight with IBF welterweight champion Daniel Jacobs on May 4th in Las Vegas.
“It’s going to be very difficult, he’s a very complete fighter, he moves very well inside the ring and he’s taller than me. I’m training to take care of the details that can be decisive, in order to be able to counteract his best punches. I will not deny that it will be a very complicated night,” Canelo said.
“Without a doubt, Mayweather was very technical, but he did not have the power of Jacobs, while Golovkin is stylistically speaking incomplete. [Jacobs southpaw style] will not be a problem, we have studied and we have prepared the right strategy to face him. The goal of 2019 is to unify all of the middleweight belts of the world.. no Mexican has achieved it and for me it would be an honor to do it.”
