The Otumfuor at 20 commemoration match which will be played between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and a yet-to-be-announced Spanish club will be preceded by an under-20 cup tournament, the organizers, Platinum Events Productions Africa have announced.
The tournament which will be launched on Saturday, November 3, 2018, in Kumasi is expected to feature 120 teams with the final set to be the curtain raiser for the much-publicized Kotoko friendly.
The cup which is named after the main and paramount Nkwanwasoafo) Hene, Baafo) Akwasi Dabanka IV seeks to use football to foster unity among Asanteman and honour the great king.
A statement signed Senior Manager of the company, Vincent Asiamah states; In an interesting twist, the tournament is not only opened for professional clubs across Asanteman (Ashanti region and other areas whose royal hierarchy pays homage to Asantehene and Asanteman Council) but includes or is opened to Community formed Teams, locally referred to as “Fr3fr3k)bo” in the Asante – Twi.
More interestingly, past students of known Asanteman Alumni schools will be allowed to compete for the enviable trophy.
